Break In Sanya

Weather: Hot & Humid 31C
Local Time: 10am

This has been a really fun break from school.  Today (Monday) is the Qing Ming holiday.  It is called "Tomb Sweeping Day," in English.

We have spent a lot of time on the beach down here.  The first day, I did not ask for help applying sun screen and it resulted in an embarrassing sunburn on my upper back.  I apparently can not reach a certain part of my back because of my inflexibility.  It was kinda painful, but it was also pretty cool.

We also made some new friends.  There were a few folks from Hong Kong who were international business people staying in our hostel.  We met them and told them a nice place to grab dinner and met them there.  We hung out the next day and went around town as a large group of nine people.  We ended up visiting some of their friends at a resort across the island.

So far, the beach has been lots of fun.  We have seen how the Chinese and Russian people vacation and it is quite a bit different than the style I am accustom to.  The adventures of this trip like backpacking and trail riding that I was hoping to go on were squashed by the malaria carrying mosquitoes.

I will be leaving the Sanya airport in just over a day, and until then I will likely be out on the sand.
